Abstract

The issue of waste is closely related to public awareness and environmental concerns. Implementing a waste management model that involves the community as an active participant in reducing waste volume is an effective decision. This study aims to (1) identify community-based waste management innovations using the Wastepreneurship model and (2) analyze the Edu-Tourism Wastepreneurship model to enhance community-based waste management. This qualitative descriptive research employs a case study approach of the Edu-Tourism Wastepreneurship model implemented by the Bank Sampah (Waste Bank) in Sumbergondo Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City of East Java Province, Indonesia. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis is conducted using SWOT analysis, and internal and external factors are assessed using the Internal Strategic Factors Analysis Summary (IFAS) and External Strategic Factors Analysis Summary (EFAS) matrices. The findings reveal the advantages of community-based waste management tourism combined with D’Kopi Sabin, which offers well-equipped facilities, services, and environmental-based tourism. Waste management includes processing organic waste into compost and maggot cultivation, as well as sorting high-value inorganic waste. Tourism opportunities are found in educational waste management tours combined with agricultural land management that offers beautiful views
