GREEN TECHNOLOGY FOR ELECTRONIC WASTE MANAGEMENT AS A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION FOR FUTURE CHALLENGES

Electronic waste, or e-waste, is one of the fastest-growing types of waste globally, posing significant challenges to the environment and human health due to its hazardous contents, such as heavy metals and toxic chemicals (Santoso et al., 2020; Forti et al., 2021). Green technology for electronic waste management, including efficient recycling methods, material recovery, and sustainable processing technologies, offers innovative solutions to address these challenges (Pratama & Widjaja, 2019; Hicks et al., 2020). The urgency of this research is based on the pressing need to develop more sustainable e-waste management strategies with minimal environmental impact. This study aims to review various green technologies used in electronic waste management through a comprehensive literature review. The research method involves a systematic analysis of scientific articles, technical reports, and relevant case studies from various national and international journals. The findings indicate that green technologies such as bioleaching, pyrolysis, and automatic material separation have significant potential to reduce the environmental impact of e-waste and improve the recovery efficiency of valuable materials such as gold, silver, and copper. However, challenges such as high implementation costs and technological limitations in developing countries remain major obstacles. The study suggests the importance of investing in the development of green technologies and supportive regulations to achieve sustainable electronic waste management in the future.
